3. Salt & Light

Theme Scripture:

“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, what will it be salted with? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cant be hid. Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a bushel basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house. Even so, let your light shine before me; that they may see you good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Matt. 5:13-20

Invitations:

Pick up some simple, printable invites from the craft store. It would be super cute to use a black ink pad and put a lightbulb and salt stamp on the bottom of the card! Wrap some yellow ribbon (or the momma-to-be’s favorite color) around the invite to add some flair.

Decorations:

This theme could be mainly done through the use of a thrift store. Collect old candles and salt shakers to create an eclectic centerpiece.

After choosing your theme, you can move on to planning your shower games and activities. As you read through these ideas below, think about how you can incorporate your theme into the different games and activities!

1. Babies of the Bible

Everybody loves a good trivia game. This fast, fun game contains ten questions about different babies in the Bible. Get ready to test everyone’s bible babies knowledge!

2. You Write the Hymn

This game sounds like so much fun! Divide your group into 3-4 teams. Each team gets assigned one well-known Christian children’s song. They take their assigned song and rewrite the lyrics, making the song about the momma-to-be and her sweet baby. You name how long the team gets to create their lyrical masterpiece. Afterwards, they all take turns singing their songs to the momma-to-be.

3. Meaningful Verse

Instead of a guestbook, get the momma-to-be a new Bible. Pass the Bible around and have all of the guests underline their favorite verse of encouragement to help get their expectant friend through the highs and lows of motherhood.

Christian Baby Shower Songs

One aspect of planning a Christian baby shower that may be overlooked is the music. Having a rock-solid playlist is sure to set a fun, relaxing mood. Playing worship music in the background will also help guests to stay focused on the Lord throughout the event. It’s a win-win! I have picked out a few different types of songs and given ideas on how to use them.

Lullaby by JJ Heller

The lyrics of this song are short and sweet. JJ Heller writes a precious lullaby that any momma-to-be would love to learn. It is a great song to play in the background during a prayer time over the momma-to-be and her baby.

“Go to sleep little one, may it be peaceful. May you dream of lovely things and awake to find them real, little one. Close your eyes, little one. This is your lullaby. The love of God is evident in the miracle of you, little one.”

Counting Every Blessing by Rend Collective

Rend Collective does a wonderful job at creating a song that helps listeners focus on God’s goodness. The beat of this song is so fun, so add this song to your itunes and play it during game time to keep things fun!

“I am counting every blessing, counting every blessing. Surely every season You are good to me. Oh, You are good to me.”

Build My Life by Matt Redman

This song by Matt Redman is perfect for a short time of worship or to simply play in the background during your Christian baby shower. The lyrics are full of truth and will remind party guests to build their lives around Christ.

“I will build my life upon your love, it is a firm foundation. I will put my trust in you alone and I will not be shaken. Holy, there is no one like You, there is none beside You. Open up my eyes in wonder.”

How to Include Bible Verses into a Baby Shower

Throwing the Perfect Christian Baby Shower - The Ultimate Guide (14)

Songs are great, but God’s Word is even better. His Word is what brings life to our weary souls and continually reminds us of God’s goodness! Sweet friend, there are so many ways that you can incorporate Scripture into a Christian baby shower.

Check out these Scriptures below. I have some awesome ideas about incorporating them into the shower through a devotional time and also through decorations.

*We use the WEB version of Scripture, but feel free to use your favorite version.

Psalm 127:1

“Unless Yahweh builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless Yahweh watches over the city, the watchmen guards it in vain.”

How to Use This Scripture in a Devotional:

This passage talks about the importance of keeping Christ at the center of the home. Use these verses to write a devotional encouraging the baby shower attendees to build their homes on the Truth found in Scripture. Incorporate other passages, such as Matthew 7, that discuss Christ being a firm foundation.

Using This Scripture for Décor:

This shop on Etsy has a super cute farmhouse style frame featuring Psalm 127:1. The style is pretty adaptable to most party themes. One great idea would be to use the frame as décor and give it away as a door prize at the end of the shower!

Psalm 139:13-18

“For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up, I am still with you.”

How to Use This Scripture in a Devotional:

This passage is an amazing Scripture acknowledging the creative Lord that we serve! Use these verses to write a devotional praising God for His sovereign goodness over every life. Incorporate a time of special thanks for the new life He has created in the tummy of the momma-to-be.

Using This Scripture for Décor:

Every good party has cue and useful party favors. Pick up some quality nail polishes and print these super cute Psalm 139:14 tags featuring little, baby footprints.

Proverbs 31:28-30

“Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also praises her: ‘Many women do noble things, but you excel them all.’ Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised.”

How to Use This Scripture in a Devotional:

This passage could be used to specifically encourage that mom-to-be and other moms in attendance. It is take from a passage of Scripture that discusses what the heart of a true woman of God looks like. Encourage those at the shower to be a woman who fears God first and foremost.

Devotionals for Baby Shower

Throwing the Perfect Christian Baby Shower - The Ultimate Guide (17)

Something that you don’t often see in a Christian baby shower is a devotional time. Why not?! It only makes sense to have a specific time of encouragement for the momma-to-be and her guests.

Well, friend, if you are anything like me, public speaking may not be your forte. Thankfully, there are a lot of great baby shower devotionals already out there – ready for you to make your own and share with others! Check out these devotionals below, you can easily adapt them to fit your chosen theme.

Loving God, Loving Your Child

Share encouragement directly from God’s Word. This devotional speaks on the importance of loving God first and foremost, so that we can pour His love into our children.

Scripture:

Yahweh is one.You shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might. These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart;7and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the door posts of your house and on your gates.” -Deuteronomy 6:4-9 WEB

Perfectly Knitted By Him

This devotional is perfect if you are going with the knitted theme that we talked about earlier! The scripture really speaks for itself about the creative hand of the Lord in the life of a newborn baby.

Scripture:

The Parent Seed

It wasn’t the author’s original intention. However, this devotional can be adapted to fit perfectly with the raising arrows theme – especially if you get the bags of seeds mentioned above as favors! This devotional is focused on nourishing our children’s faith, so that they can grow up to serve the Lord faithfully.

Scripture:

“Seeing that His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and virtue.” 2 Peter 1:3
